By goddess, you're right! The person who wrote the article has attached a picture of A Kwa Ba, the Ashanti mother goddess -- http://www.pantheon.org/areas/gallery/mythology/other/a_kwa_ba.html --, to the description of Mbaba Mwana Waresa, a Zulu goddess. From what I can tell the Zulus did not engage in much religious iconography. Interesting.
