I am alive today! Tomorrow is in God's hands.I came across this one in a good book by John Romer called Ancient Lives. It seems to have been a popular saying among the people of Upper Egypt during the late New Kingdom period. I'm not sure what the fatalistic Thebans might have meant by it, but I like it. "I am alive today!" I am thankful for that blessing and will use it with joy. "Tomorrow is in God's hands." Another blessing; one that allows me to focus on the now and live in the moment, as the future is in stronger hands than mine. An old saw of three thousand years ago can become a daily prayer for joy and contentment. Funny thing, that.
